Rise & Shine was born from a bold decision: to leave behind 50 years of corporate restaurant leadership and build something better. Kevin and Carleen Schoner sold their personal residence to open a full-service breakfast and lunch spot where every dish is made from scratch. Kevin, an honors graduate from Cal Poly Pomona’s Collins College of Hospitality Management, and Carleen, a seasoned operator in national foodservice, created a brand rooted in independence, integrity, and family values. This isn't fast casual or franchise food—it’s handcrafted comfort, made daily with tallow, avocado oil, and organic cage-free eggs.

Most restaurants cut corners. We do the opposite. At Rise & Shine, we hand-brine our corned beef, bread our chicken tenders in-house, and cook exclusively with clean, traditional fats like beef tallow and butter. Our scratch kitchen model demands more labor, more skill, and more care—but it’s worth it. From the dining room to the pet menu, every part of our operation reflects our refusal to use seed oils, ultra-processed ingredients, or artificial colors.
